The U.S. Department of the Treasury has issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) to gather public feedback on implementing the GENIUS Act. The legislation aims to foster innovation in payment stablecoins while establishing safeguards for consumers, financial stability, and illicit finance risks.

Treasury's invitation for comments follows its August 2025 Request for Comment on digital asset illicit activity detection methods. Stakeholders have 30 days after Federal Register publication to submit responses, which will be publicly accessible.

The move signals continued regulatory engagement with cryptocurrency markets as stablecoins gain prominence in payments infrastructure. No immediate policy changes are proposed, but the ANPRM process could shape future oversight frameworks for dollar-pegged digital assets.
